In 2005, Darbie Layos arrived in Canada as a Filipino immigrant. For over 15 years, he worked as a cleaner-janitor, cleaning offices, clinics, daycare centres, restaurants, malls, gyms, homes and many others like garbage and junk removal.

Even in the freezing Canadian winter, Darbie went door to door most days, wearing a "Superhero Cape" and dropping flyers looking for customers.

Eventually, he launched his own janitorial business.

As the work grew, he didn’t build alone. Darbie brought families and friends from the Philippines to Canada—to help with the work and to create opportunities rooted in the values that shaped him: hard work and never letting go of a dream.
